QUESTION

How can do I get my security deposit back from a vacation rental?

Asked on Jun 27th, 2016 on Contracts - Florida
More details to this question:
Landlord is withholding $500 security deposit from our vacation rental because he claims we broke his couch. The back leg of the couch sank into the frame of the couch. We did not see or feel it happen and did nothing to cause this. As far as I know, the couch was already broken when we arrived. I would consider this normal wear and tear for a rental property that houses 12+ people each week. Please advise on how we should proceed. Thanks in advance.

If the couch was broken when you left and you can't prove you didnt do it, as opposed to "as far as I know", its not financially practical to fight over the damage.
