QUESTION

How can I cancel a contract for the installation of impact windows?

Asked on Oct 10th, 2016 on Contracts - Florida
More details to this question:
On 11/2/2015 I contracted to have impact doors and windows installed, but to date no work has been performed. The contractor fabricated a Bay Window incorrectly and has yet to provide me with the correct rough opening dimensions. In June I received a registered letter from the contractor's attorney demanding payment for work performed at my residence, and threatening me with litigation if I did not remit the full balance due, so I informed the attorney his client has not yet done any work whatsoever. Further discussion resulted in both the attorney and his client refusing to admit the wrong window was fabricated and ignoring my attempts to reach a compromise to resolve the issue. They did, however, ask me at least twice for more money. These men have been both obtuse and uncooperative for so long I have absolutely no confidence in the contractor's ability to do the job correctly. Do I have any legal grounds to rescind the contract?
