I hired a lawyer for 4,800 I have not heard from my lawyer in I called n sent multiple emails. Is there a way i can get my money back. What can i do?

Hired a lawyer for a case i have pending against someone i filed charges on in 2021 i have not heard from the lawyer since the end of November. I have called the office I'm always being told he isn't there and they'll get back to me. I sent hand full of e-mails even saying i cannot get in touch and i need things and to speak to my lawyer. I would like to know if i can get my money back. I don't have thousands to just be handing someone.

Accordingly to the laws of New York, there is no no-refundable fee. If the attorney has not done anything you could request your money back. You may want to send a forma letter in the mail requesting information.
