I signed a contract for a three season sunroom back in September. I applied for a loan thru a Bank that the company uses to secure loans. I only qualified for 12500.00. I applied for 3 additional loans and was refused. To add insult to injury , I had a Total Right Knee replacement October 30,2018 and nee a Lt. Total Total Knee Replacement in January. The materials have been dropped off at my house and the total cost of the project has increased to $50,000.00 which I can not afford. I contacted the business owner and explained my situation. He told me he would keep me in the loop, as the materials sit out in the CT. weather unprotected. Now, I wouldn't want this company, if I could afford them, but I can't. What is my recourse ??
You shold bring the contract to a an attorney who can review it and see if there are any ways that the contract does not hold up. If this was a contract for home improvement, then the Home Improvement Act applies and this is a notoriously difficult law for contractors to comply with. My office handles a lot of Home Improvement Act litigation and would be happy to speak further on this. Please feel free to contact us if we can be of further service.
