If a contract says I must pay 50% if I cancel within 90 days, can they charge me if I dont pay it?

More details to this question:
I cancelled my wedding services more than 30 days in advance. I sent out emails to all places cancelling. The media group who would be doing my photos, videos, music says per the contract I have to pay 50% of the balance. They also said if I dont sign the cancellation letter within a week they would charge me 100% seeing as it is in the 30 day mark. Can they do this?
