QUESTION

Is this a breach of contract?

More details to this question:
Hello, I'm currently a student of a trade school studying machine technologies. Naturally, the school requires math courses to be taken. Prior to the start of this quarter, they fired a math teach and had one on leave. The administration filled the algebra position with the business/business law teacher (have his class too). When the class started out I was kind of able to help walk him through the lessons hes stumbled through but over 8 weeks the class became so chaotic and confusing as we approached areas I didn't know that I'm absolutely lost. The teacher himself admitted to not knowing the material saying "We'll be learning this together" Today, he issued our final exam two weeks early. I bombed it. I maybe got 2 questions (the stuff I could help him with) and probably just failed the class. I feel like my school didn't provide me with a competent teacher for this class. I appreciate you taking the time to read this. Thank you.

I think your approach here is a good one -- they have a "contractual" obligation to provide you with instructors who know the material.  You would have every reason and right to write a letter to the school requesting that you be permitted to retake the class with a competent instructor and free of charge.  In addition, your grade for the prior class would not count.
