QUESTION

Lease end date “6/31/2019” not a real date - is my lease void/about to break?

Asked on Mar 21st, 2019 on Contracts - Illinois
More details to this question:
My apartment is currently experiencing a rodent issues and I have reached out to break my lease. The management stated I am unable to break my lease. I went to review my lease to see my options and noticed the lease end date states “6/31/2019”. I requested a 12 month lease which started 6/1/2018, which would mean the lease ends either 5/31 or 6/1, but since 6/31/2019 isn’t a real date does that mean my lease is void therefore I can break it? Also with the rodent issue could I give less than 60 days notice since it’s a serious health concern? Please help!!!

The lease would not be void just because it has a minor glitch like having a 6/31 termination date, but it is possible that having a “rodent problem”, depending on how severe it is and how long it’s gone in, might be a material breach of the lease entitling you to rescind it.
