QUESTION

My employer has breached the contract we signed a year ago. Is the contract void?

Asked on Aug 29th, 2020 on Breach of Contract - Michigan
More details to this question:
I signed a contract with a non compete. My employer is not paying the amount agreed on & is now asking me to take less pay due to COVID. I work in the medical field & haven't really raised the issue much because of the patient care, but our working relationship is no longer sustainable for me. Would I be able to get out of the contract as it may be void & settle out a zero obligation so I can keep the patients I have, without finacial reimbursement from the employer for lost wages?

You may be able to. If your employer has breached the contract, that may relieve you of your obligations under that agreement. It would also require your employer to sue you to uphold the no-compete clause if you did decide to leave.
