QUESTION

public adjuster lied to get my business.

Asked on Jul 17th, 2014 on Contracts - Florida
More details to this question:
when my home suffered damage, I didn't know what to do so I called a public adjuster. When he came out he explained to us that he will get me a higher amount from the insurance company the not hiring an adjuster, hand when I get the check I would be able to do with the money what I wish. If I wanted to replace everything, or if I wanted to spend less money to do repairs and set the rest of the money aside or to pay down my mortgage or other debts. When I finally got the check it was time for me to call the mortgage company, he had told me not to call them until I had a check in my hand. When I call the mortgage company they gave me a different story, they said that they keep the money in an account and as the work is fully completed by licensed contractors to their approval then they would pay the money out and if there was anything left at the end they would send me a check.this is exactly opposite of what the public adjuster had told me: in order to get a contract.

You can file a complaint with the Department of Insurance. Other than that, I am not sure what you are trying to accomplish as I am not seeing an real damages here, other than you were not able to divert the funds from the intended purpose of effecting the repairs upon which your claim was based.
