QUESTION

Refusing to sell after an agreement was made

Asked on Feb 20th, 2018 on Breach of Contract - Pennsylvania
More details to this question:
My husband was offered to purchase 1/2 of the company he works for (1 partner wanted out of the business). The seller offered to finance 1/2 of his asking price if we came up with half as a downpayment. We applied for loan and were approved, and were in the final stages of closing and disbursement when the seller got mad at my husband. I had already quit my job in anticipation of working in the office. Now the seller states he won't sell to my husband unless we come up with the full asking price. All of the dialogue took place verbally and in text message, where the seller exclaimed multiple times "i want to sell it to your husband but i don't like how he works" ( my husband was employed by the seller for 2 years prior). Can we sue for beach of contract?

You can have an enforceable verbal agreement to purchase the seller's interestin the business.  The facts and circumstances of your dealings and the actions that all of you engaged in will dictate whether you can enforce the alleged agreement.  You should speak with an attorney right away to share the details and get an assessment of your chances of success.
