QUESTION

Sue a landlord

Asked on Apr 10th, 2017 on Breach of Contract - New York
More details to this question:
my landlord told me I had to move because he was going to sell the house because he couldn't afford to fix it and the house had mold and the sewage was backing up into the house (it did not pass inspection and as of today is not up to code) and 1 week after I move out he has people there looking to rent it out again. Can I sue him moving expenses, back rent of at least 3 months that I lived with the sewage problem happening and pain and suffering of having to find a place quickly to move into. I have people that can attest to my claims and the town inspection report will say what he was sighted for. to Me that is a Breach of contract as a landlord to maintain the house.

If you voluntarily left, you really have no case.  You might be able to sue for some back rent, but it is unclear.
