Witnessing a Consent

More details to this question:
I am being forced by the management of our Hospital to witness a surgical consent. I refuse and they warned me of insubordination. What is my right? Can they fire me for not witnessing a consent? Now I am being pressured to witness a consent

Unless you belong to a union or have a written contract that provides otherwise, you can be fired for no reason in an at-will employment state like California.
