Asked on Dec 14th, 2014 on Corporate Law - New Jersey
More details to this question:
My novel I'm writing is based off my life, and half of the story takes place overnight at a job. All character names are changed, company name has changed. I'm blowing the lid off the lack of ethics and low morale at my job.I want vent my anger through fictional characters and companies. The issue: if the company I work for sees this novel, it will stir up a conflict of interest. I want to exercise my freedom of speech without any potential lawsuits from the company

You can exercise your freedom of speech, but if you are an "at will" emplyee, you could be fired for no cause at all so if your employer does like what you wrote, you could still be fired.
