QUESTION

As a first time embezzler, will I be sent to jail?

Asked on Apr 05th, 2013 on Criminal Law - Michigan
More details to this question:
I'm only 21 and I have never been in trouble with the law before in any way, shape, or form. I got caught stealing from work and was interviewed by a member of the company LP and admitted to everything. In total, I stole $2,096.86. I am more than willing to pay them back but I'm nervous. Will I be facing jail time? PS, I'm in Michigan.

That is certainly felony level and it really depends on your court, judge and defense attorney. Hire one ASAP.

If you end up paying them back maybe the matter can be reduced to a misdemeanor with no jail. Get a lawyer.

You will robably get some form of probation and fines. Get a lawyer to make the deal. If you plead guilty with just the prosecutor even thouigh he's a nice reasonable guy, they will wreck you.

It is difficult to say without knowing who your judge will be. Every judge has certain case types that set him/her off. Some judges hate all criminal defendants. Without knowing who it will be deciding your sentence, your question cannot be answered with any accuracy. In what court will your case be?
