Can I stop an apartment complex from accusing me?

I had been arrested in my apt parking lot in January for allegedly breaking in to a car. The police came and the complainant called the apt. managers. There is no physical evidence and it basically this girl's word against mine. I was supposed to go to court on the 20th but the case has not been filed yet. I moved out of my apt and am now staying with my parents. Today, 2 police officers came to my house while I was out. They told my mother that a car had been broken into the night before and something had been stolen. The apt management told the police that I had been a problem and told them where I live. I have no idea what they are talking about me being a problem but it seems odd to me that if they thought I was out stealing things from cars all of the time, that they did not say anything to me. I have not been convicted of anything. The officers wanted me to come down to the station and talk to them. I am freaked out and scared that I am going to be arrested for something I did not do. And I am afraid that anytime there is a car broken in to, the police will be coming to my house. Can I stop them from telling the police that I am potential suspect? Is there any recourse I can take?
