Can I sue the city that I was arrested in, if the case was dismissed?

I was arrested on a Friday afternoon, I was trying to cash a check from a work from home business. This check was from the company that need to send me money to get everything to start the company. I advised the check cashing and the police when they advised them I had a fraud check. They arrested me. I spent friday night and half of the following day in the city jail. My bond was set at 7, 500.00. I was bonded out. The following Tuesday the detective called I explained my situation and he dropped my case.

Your ability to sue the city is limited. If there was a mistake the city has immunity, meaning that they will be protected from liability by law. You may be able to sue the company that issued the check if they are solvent and they owe the money to you. You may also be able to collect for your damages (bond cost, etc.).
