How long does it take for petit larceny to not show up on a background check?

Forever until you can have it expunged. You need to have successfully completed the entire term of probation, have nothing criminal pending, and not be on probation for any other offense(s). Contact a lawyer to file the petition for expungement on your behalf.

If it's in NY, then it will likely always show up. That is, unless you received an Adjournment in Contemplation of Dismissal ACD, or a Violation of Disorderly Conduct, both of which should be sealed and/or expunged. You can make a Motion for a Relief from Civil Disabilities too.

It will show up FOREVER. Criminal records are not like traffic points they do not disappear. You need to get a lawyer and see about an expungment.

It depends upon how far back the background check goes. The case is never actually removed from your record unless you petition the court and the judge agrees to do so. Consequences of poor decision making.

The arrest will show up in a few days as an open case. The conviction will show up a day or two after the case is resolved if you get a conviction.
