HOW TO CHECK SOMETHING ON MY RECORD

I WAS ARRESTED FOR SHOP-LIFTING BACK IN 1992. IT WAS FOR $22.00. I WENT BEFORE THE JUDGE, AND HE SAID IT WOULD ONLY BE AN ARREST ON MY RECORD. WHEN I CHECKED MY RECORD IT SHOWED THEFT. I WANT TO WORK W/ KIDS IN MY CHURCH, BUT NOW ALL CHURCHES WANT A BACKGROUND CHECK. WHAT DO I DO?

Get a copy of the judgment (the complete file would be better) from the court that it was adjudicated in.  It probably was a municipal court or a justice of the peace court in the city/county where it occurred.  Once you get that an attorney will be able to advise you of what is best to do.  There are certain situations that can be expunged for Class "C" misdemeanors.  Good luck, patrick short
