Is battery a felony or misdemeanor?

More details to this question:
My son hospitalized another guy after a football game at college. Is he looking just at a misdemeanor like we think? Or does it depend?

It depends. Could be a felony filing depending on the extent of the injuries.

It depends. Battery can be charged as either a felony or as a misdemeanor. However, if the person your son fought with, the "victim", was hospitalized as a result of the fight, your son most likely will be charged with a felony. He needs an attorney and he needs one now.
