The penalty for manufacturing with intent to deliver methamphetamine is a serious offense. With that said, riding in a vehicle with an individual in possession of methamphetamine without knowledge of their possession is a very different set of circumstances. As long as someone else claimed the drugs, you shouldn't be facing any penalty.

If you did not know of the drugs, then you should fight the case since you are not guilty.

You would face no penalties if the jury at your trial believes you did not know the drugs were there. You are not guilty of possessing something of which you are unaware.

This is probably an F3 with a range of 4-12 doc w 5 years of parole. Many judges are looking at prison on a first felony conviction like this. If you have any prior drug cases or prior felonies, you likely will get prison if convicted. You need a lawyer, public defender or private lawyer. As I said before, if you did not know the stuff was in car, then you are not guilty. The DA has to prove beyond a reasonable doubt that you knew the stuff was in the car. Do not talk with police or prosecution, they are just trying to get evidence to put you in jail. Just say, "I want a lawyer" and nothing else.
