What is the difference between DWI and DUI?

I was arrested for a driving while intoxicated charge. I am prescribed the sleep aid ambien. I told the officer what I took, he still took my blood. Should I have got a driving under the influence ( dui ) instead of driving while intoxicated (DWI ) because I had absolutely no alcohol in my system. I took a medicine that was prescribed to me.

DUI is the charge for someone under 21 who has any amount of alcohol under the legal limit of .08. DWI is any person .08 or higher or under the influence of drugs.

DUI, in Texas, is only for people under 21. DWI is for anybody intoxicated whether it's alcohol, illegal drugs, or prescription medication.

It will not matter, The wording of the information will include drugs, alcohol or a combination. The issue is if you were impared.
