Almost a year ago I was arrested for theft. The total was $53 worth of merchandise; I admitted to the theft on the spot. I hired a lawyer that is supposedly top notch. I work with kids and want to open a preschool but since I can't even get a job at in and out burger right now I fear my future has gone down the drain. I have no previous charges. I was just arrested for public intoxication but my lawyers office owed me a favor so they are taking care of that too. I'm terrified this won't get dismissed like my lawyer is hoping.
You absolutely need to get the theft dismissed or pretrial intervention or deferred adjudication. If your lawyer wants you to plead guilty, hire another attorney. Do your research on lawyers. Any "top notch" lawyer is easily researchable. If not, then only they think they are top notch.
