More details to this question:
Okay, so a friend of mine and myself got into a large argument in my apartment. We were both heavily intoxicated at the time and i told him to leave my apartment. He continues to argue and yell while i repeatedly tell him to leave the apartment. I warn that i have a knife, yet he still refuses to eave. I bring the knife out to reinforce how seriously i wanted him gone. He then confronts me saying "stab me then, stab me then" and then lunges at me, the knife making about an inch cut on his hand. Since then, he went to the cops and filed assault charges. What rights do I have?

You have a potential defense based on the facts. An assault requires that you intended to place him in eminent fear of injury or death not brought on by sufficient provocation.  You should consult with a lawyer about the effect of the facts. He may be able to get the case dismissed.
