Two kids took some of my brother's stuff while he was playing outside. My friends and I chased them to their house, and I shook their doorknob and yelled at them. His dad is saying that I made a crack in their door glass, which I didn't (it was done by one of the kids when he slammed the door shut because we were chasing him), and he says he is going to file a police report. What will happen if he does?
Typically, attorneys do not like their clients speaking to the police without them present, if at all. There are legalities that can affect an individual even when they believe they are just trying to tell their side of the story. i would encourage you to consult with a lawyer if you are contacted by the police. You may want to even consult an attorney before you are contacted by the police. I believe they will tell you the same thing--don't speak to anyone without the consultation of your lawyer.
