QUESTION

What will happen if I was pulled over with a suspended license?

Asked on Oct 19th, 2011 on Criminal Law - Florida
More details to this question:
I got pulled over for driving on a suspended license. The officer gave me a court date. I got confused and thought it was on the 8th (It was on the 3rd) I did a walk through at the jail and paid my bond. Now I am told I have an arraignment on the first of next month. Should I pay the fee for the public defender? What should I expect through this process?

You will be charged with Driving While License Suspended with Knowledge or possibly without knowledge. If you have no record the consequences are minor and you should go get your DL back ASAP so you can show the prosecutor and Judge you really do have the right to drive or are serious about following the law.
