What will happen to my boyfriend if he was arrested for having weed with him in school?

My boyfriend was recently arrested from school for having about $30 of weed with him. He had on pill bottle of weed, an empty bottle, and a bottle with a little piece of blunt in it. The school security said it was an attempt to be a drug dealer. The police department said it was a misdemeanor.

It probably is a misdemeanor. He may be able to get into a program for first time offenders. This is important since a drug conviction would bar him from many jobs and activities.
