Seven years since a conviction does not magically erase someone's criminal record. If you wish to have your record expunged, then you must petition the court where you were convicted. This is called a 1203.4 Penal Code petition. There is a Superior Court form that is available to petition the court. Or consider hiring an attorney to help you complete the process. And the seven years that you spoke of may be the old statute for DUI's which was 7 years to be used as a prior conviction. Finally, one way to know for sure if your prior conviction will show up on a criminal record is to send for a copy of your record through the California Department of Justice. Good luck!
