QUESTION

Am I able to have a shoplifting charge dismissed?

Asked on Aug 05th, 2014 on Criminal Law - Tennessee
More details to this question:
I am a 39 year old female. I am employed with Veteran Affairs. I recently had shoulder surgery x2 weeks ago and afterward started 5 new medications ranging from pain to hormones and am also on antibiotics for pneumonia. I have never been in any trouble. I impulsively shoplifted two shirts from a department store and I had the money to purchase this item. I really do not know why I did it. I am very fearful that I will lose my job and security clearance once my offense reaches the light of day. Is it possible that these new meds played a part in my wreck less decision to commit petty theft? And what are the chances of having this charge dropped?

Depending on which county this happened in will determine the answer to your question. If it happened in Davidson County, there are ways to get the case dismissed. If it is Williamson County, there is almost no way for it to be dismissed. And in many other counties, there are ways to get this case dismissed also.
