QUESTION

Am I facing criminal or civil actions?

Asked on Nov 08th, 2016 on Criminal Law - Colorado
More details to this question:
5 years ago, a friend offered to give me money when I was in a bad situation. I told him I had no way of repaying him and he told me not to worry about it. I eventually remarried, and he was a guest in our home often. When he got involved in a bad business deal I asked him to cease contact. He continued to call up 12 times a day, even though we had his number blocked. He would show up at our home and lay on the doorbell. I told him via email that if he did it again, I would involve police. He did, and I called police. He stated to the police that I owe him $50,000!! I told tho officer that I had no idea where he came up with that. The officer then began talking about white collar crimes he was investigating. I told him I did not see how that was relevant to me, and that I do not owe this man any monies. I am at a loss as to what I do next, if anything.

Update Your Profile
From your description of the situation it seems this other person may have a civil case against you to recover the money he says he loaned you 5 years ago.  He can sue you in small claims court (like the shows on TV - Judge Judy, People's Court, Judge Joe, etc.) and get it decided by a court - if the amount he seeks is under $7500.   His "Harrassment" of you is a criminal matter and if he trespasses on your property (i.e. does not leave after you tell him to) or sontinually contacts you after you have told him to stop, he could be charged with Trespassing as a criminal offense and / or Harassment.
