My son lent my car to his friend. His friend parked in a no parking zone just outside of his dorm room. The police saw this and came up to the car. The friend was arrested for DUI, in front of the school. Another friend went to tell my son what was happening, and when my son went outside, the officer would not give him any information. My son explained he is authorized to drive the car and his friend had borrowed it. They towed the car, right in front of my son, and told him they found marijuana paraphernalia, in a bag belonging to my son’s friend and they could forfeit the vehicle, if they wanted to. I am in another state. When I called the tow company this morning, the owner gave me the amount that needed to be paid to get it out. When my son called the tow company, after I did, he was told the same thing and to call them before going. Now my son called me and told me to say that when he called the tow company and told them he was on his way. He was told the police have a hold on it, and it can't be picked up. I have called the PD but no one answers. I am directed to another PD in another city. When I called there, they told me that someone should be at the department. Now PD is telling me they will have the officer of the day call me to give me information. My son was not involved in the arrest. He only lent the car out. He is an authorized driver on the insurance. What can I do?
