My daughter travels to another state once a month as part of a team in a Christian church there. She was stopped by a policeman for doing a hurried U-turn. The police asked her for her license. On checking it, he came back informing her that her license had been revoked on account of a DUI penalty or conviction. My daughter informed the officer she has never drank in her life and never been stopped for any such thing. The previous week, she was pulled over (and not booked) for having one of the lights in the vehicle that was faulty and not working. She was not aware of the fault. That officer took her license and preceded to do his routine check. He came back and simply told her to get that light fixed. No mention was made of any license being revoked or DUI record. There has never been any mail or any information given to her, either through phone calls, mail or email, informing her of any license being revoked. It seems very strange and we thought perhaps identity theft was involved. Can this happen? What should one do to correct the situation?
