I was threatened by a patient at my job. He was highly agitated. He threatened to shove his cane down my throat, waited for me outside and continued to threaten me. As a result, I then screamed that I have a gun and will shoot him. Although I do not own a gun, I said it out of fear.
Sure he could sue but if the facts are as you say they are and you can prove it - he would likely lose. Of course if he needs a cane how much of a real treat could he have been to you?
