I and another older man decided to leave a special meeting. When we got outside, the chief of police informed us that we can be arrested for failure to comply. He said there is a special order against leaving a special board meeting. Can I be arrested for failure to comply if I am an elected official?

Read the statute to see if the are any exception. Being an elected official may give you special rights, however, I would not think so.

Never heard of that; The only failure to comply that I know is that of a lawful order of a police officer, for example when the tell you to stop or order you out of your vehicle.
