can i dispute having a ignition interlock device in my car for 2 years?

More details to this question:
i went on the dmv website and it says first dui offense, you can have an ignition interlock device 6 months, to one year. they required me to have it in for 2 years and i don't believe this is legal. what do i do?

you should start with the prosecutor to see if he/she is of the opinion that the judge will change the interlock sentence. this would be the least expensive. if you are not successful, they you would have to appeal the the superior court in the county where the DUI conviction occurred. this would require a formal appeal and as such, would be more expensive. the appeal would cost $2500.  please let me know if we can help. ed dimon, esq. 732-797-1600
