Can I file a case if I was rapped in 2007?

More details to this question:
The husband of our family friend wanted to talk to me and asked me to meet at starbucks. I was asked to come to meet outside the cafe. When I reached the cafe this person said as it is too busy and he wanted to meet at a quite place, he asked me to come to the cafe in residence Inn. I was not sure of his intensions at that time and I went there. But he actually took me to a room and rapped me there saying that he wanted me for years. I was afraid and ashamed and did not tell anybody, even my husband about it. Please let me know if I can still file a case against this person? This person and his family has destroyed my life and now I want to standup for myself and not live a life of shame.

You would have a difficult time with the prosecutors office because eight years have gone by since the attack. You could sue in civil court but the burden of proof is upon you as the plaintiff and the cost of litigation is expensive. It is your decision. Ed Dimon
