Can I get a passport if I have a felony charge?

Is it possible for me to get a passport if I have a charge for felony in which I was not convicted?

A U.S. citizen must have a passport to return to the United States after traveling abroad. If you have a felony conviction on your criminal record, it will usually not affect your ability to get a passport, but it should still be a consideration when returning to country My recommendation is to have your felony conviction expunged

A dismissed or acquitted charge should be no obstacle to issuance of a passport.
