QUESTION

Can I get an open carry with a DUI within 5 years?

More details to this question:
I got a DUI in 2012. I've heard you can't have a concealed carry in California within 5 years of your DUI. I was wondering if it's the same for open carry? I'm a first family member of front site training in Nevada. I passed the concealed carry but could not get it due to the DUI.

Not true. But you should get the charge expunged. You need to have successfully completed the entire term of probation, have nothing criminal pending, and not be on probation for any other offense(s). Contact a lawyer to file the petition for expungement on your behalf.
