Can i have my theft by deception charge dropped down?

More details to this question:
The amount was about 2000, but this was about 3 years ago and i haven't gone to court yet, but i want a lawyer with me and i want know how much it would cost for a lawyer to be present. I just want to be done with this cause this is holding me back from getting a better job. I haven't been in trouble since then.
