Can my resisting arrest charge be reduced or dropped?

More details to this question:
I'm curious if I can have my resisting arrest charge dropped or reduced. A police officer stopped me because I was "staggering" while intoxicated. His reason for stopping me was to see if I needed medical attention, but I told him I was fine. he then proceeded to arrest me without giving me a breathalyzer first. In his police report it says I tried pushing away from him in which then he proceeded to slam my face on the concrete resulting in a laceration which needed stitches. I went to the hospital that night to have my face stitched up. What doesn't make sense to me is that his "reason" for stopping me was to see if I needed medical attention, in which I didn't, but due to his actions I actually did need medical attention. Over all I'm being charged with resisting arrest, public intoxication, and disorderly conduct. My question is weather I can get some of the charges dropped or reduced and what I should do about the situation.
It sounds like many a story from a night out on the South Side. I have success in having charges withdrawn completely in these cases. I would only settle for a summary if there was no other option. I would call an attorney .
