QUESTION

Can my traffic ticket be thrown out due to miswritten ticket?

Asked on Aug 05th, 2013 on Criminal Law - Illinois
More details to this question:
I received a ticket with the wrong social security number on it. Also, the issuing officer was a airport police officer that pulled me over on a major highway (near the airport). Does he have that jurisdiction?

That is something that you would have to talk to a local lawyer about.

The SS number is irrelevant. The airport police officer probably has jurisdiction. I can't say, because you have given insufficient info.

He has jurisdiction as a sworn officer. The ticket will likely be found valid regardless of the SSN mistake.

A mistake on the ticket is not enough. Jurisdiction is OK if he is a peace officer.
