Can police force you to let them interview your child?

More details to this question:
They want to interview him alone with a forensic detective because they believe he my have witnessed an assault at are home between his parents.

Anyone has the right to remain silent. Remember, no matter what you say it will be twisted around and used against you later.

Yes. A witness can be interviewed against his parent's wishes.

No, the police cannot force anyone to talk to them. They can get a warrant for various things but cannot force you or anyone to talk to them.
