QUESTION

Can this transit ticket mistake be remedied?

Asked on Jan 20th, 2017 on Criminal Law - California
More details to this question:
I just started college last week, and we're given a transit sticker pass on our school ID. I was asked for my ticket by a transit officer. I actually bought a ticket earlier that day like usual, but I could not find it in all my pockets. He asked for my ID. The only ID I had was my school ID, which he used to write me a pink ticket. New to college, and much on my mind, I forgot that sticker on my ID is a light rail pass. Why didn't the officer know this when he used my school ID to ticket me? Who do I contact to clear this mistake? What do I say?

You should hire a lawyer and get this relatively minor charge dismissed. By yourself may end up with a misdemeanor, and it isn't worth it.
