QUESTION

Can you be charged for something if it is one word against another

Asked on Mar 06th, 2015 on Criminal Law - South Carolina
More details to this question:
My daughter is a medical asst. Some blank prescription forms were stolen. The thieves hand wrote a prescription and presented it to pharmacy. This isn't the norm for her medical office and the pharmacy said they called and she verified the prescription. She says she did not. She had been suspended from work (without pay) and after 6 weeks they are just now talking to her after many calls she has made to them. They say it is being investigated.

South Carolina is an "at-will" employment state meaning anyone can be fired for any reason with or without cause. Regarding possible charges, anyone can be charged with anything if there is probable cause. If the prescriptions were forged I would think it would be fairly easy to show that in court and get a directed verdict.
