QUESTION

Can you move out of state while on ARD in PA?

Asked on Feb 10th, 2013 on DUI/DWI - Pennsylvania
More details to this question:
I got a DUI in Jan and my preliminary hearing is Feb 27th. I've been advised that provided I'm eligible for ARD then I won't lose my license for a year. However, my concern is the time frame of the classes/community service/Etc that go along with the ARD. According to what I've been told I would start ARD as late as July-August. I want to transfer to a college in California in September. Is it still possible? Or will be rooted here in PA until the ARD is cleared? Thank you.

I can only answer as to Allegheny County. The only things you would need to complete in Allegheny County are the CRN evaluation and the classes. This could be done in 4-5 weeks. Once you are done and go before the judge, you are free to transfer your probation to any of the 51 states.
