Can you undo waiving your rights?

More details to this question:
My daughter's father has just been accused of burglary of a commercial building but the thing about it ia the building is no longer a running business. Then the investigator told him that he had to waive his rights in order to discuss his case with him. Why can I do?

Hire a criminal attorney. Even if the building has no business it is commercial property.
