I'm 19 in Orlando, FL. A few days ago ago I was walking out of a private restaurant in the area and one of my friends dared me to put my foot in the door way and cause someone to trip. So I stuck my leg in the doorway without looking for a few seconds thinking someone might come through and get tripped up. I didn't actually know someone was coming through the door but I didn't look either. Well someone did come through and they tripped. Did I commit assault and battery? I admitted to him what I did and apologized. I don't know if he will report me so I'm asking if this is considered a crime.
The short answer is you potentially could be charged with a criminal offense (if the person files a complaint or makes a police report) -- and you also could be sued civilly. So I don't think this is something you want to be broadcasting (or bragging) about.
