QUESTION

Do I have to go back to NJ?

Asked on Aug 30th, 2013 on DUI/DWI - New Jersey
More details to this question:
I was convicted of a 2nd dui in 2005 in NJ, as a minor. I now live in MA and am trying to take care of all fines and surcharges which I thought had been resolved in 2006. I was sentenced to IRDC for 48 hours but was told I could receive like treatment here in MA. However, the MA programs for DUI are much different and lengthier than NJ. How would that work out if I chose to cover the treatment here?

you must fulfill the IDRC requirements before you can have your driving privileges restored in MA because you must tell MA that your license in NJ is suspended. you should speak with the NJ IDRC to determine the regulations concerning the fulfillment of the NJ IDRC requirements in MA. if you have difficulties, we can help. ed dimon, esq.
