QUESTION

Do I have to testify against my spouse?

Asked on Mar 22nd, 2014 on Criminal Law - Nevada
More details to this question:
I filled out a report for my 9 month old baby for child abuse against my husband. In the process, they told me the case was just about my son. They called me in to the police station to talk to them about what happened. Then she asked me if he had been violent with me before. I said yes. I told her about him trying to force me to have sex with him. She said the case was all about my child and just wanted to know how he was with me but she pressed charges without me knowing and now I have to testify. I wanted to drop the charges against me but NOT my son's! I just want to know what to do and what they will ask in court? Do I have to testify about the sexual assault if I didn't even press charges? If he says he's guilty, how many years will he go to jail? He has 5 charges: child abuse 2, battery 1 and sexual assault 2. Please help! All I wanted was a restraining order, my divorce and for him to get anger management or get a psychologist to help him. I think he has mental problems. I want him to be out of jail. I need him to provide for his son.
