QUESTION

Do I need a lawyer at pretrial?

Asked on Oct 27th, 2013 on Criminal Law - Virginia
More details to this question:
I received a Capias for my arrest for a class 1 misdemeanor in Chesterfield, Va. I turned myself in, they set a pretrial in 3 days. It's assault and battery. The victim says I hit him and I didn't. There are no witnesses on either side, just my word against his. I'm 53 and never been in trouble before. Lived here all my life, married 27 years with 2kids in college and 1 in middle school and employed with same company for 29 years. I'm intimidated by the court process and do not know what to do or expect.
