Asked on May 04th, 2021 on Criminal Law - Michigan
More details to this question:
The owner of the building of my old company let me in the building that had been vacated by my old boss. While there I grabbed some paper work pertaining to the financials of my old company to do some research because said employer owes me $48,000.00. He has now filed a larcany charge against me. Does he have a case and do I need a lawyer

It sounds as if they have a strong case against you.  You took things that you knew were not yours to take.  You will need a lawyer.  Hire one, or get one appointed if you are indigent.  If he owes you that much money, you may be able to get off without a conviction by showing that what you took was worth much less than you are owed.  Good luck.

Have charges and an arrest warrant been issued? If so, you will definitely want a criminal defense attorney representing you. Theft-related convictions can have a huge impact on your life with respect to finding and maintaining employment, and even housing. Not to mention the possibility of incarceration, fines, court costs, probation and community service.
